It's All For Your Child's Health
Juvenile/Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 Diabetes, also known as Juvenile Diabetes, is usually diagnosed in children or young adults. When a child's body fails to produce enough insulin and the resulting symptoms emerge, blood tests are used to diagnose Type 1 Diabetes. Approximately 5-10% of people have Type 1 Diabetes, but with education and symptom management, people of all ages can live a normal, healthy, happy life.
The diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes can be overwhelming for both you and your child. But, you are not alone. The pharmacists at Thompson Pharmacy along with your child's doctor are ready to offer support and guidance through the uncertainty of a new diagnosis or changes in your child's medication regimen. We sponsor Diabetes Awareness and Free Meter Days with a Certified Dietician and a Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator to keep you up to date on the latest Diabetes treatment options. As always, our pharmacists are here to answer questions and offer advice about any of your child's medications or diabetes related supplies.
